"PASSIVE VOICE AND CONDITIONALS"


“Passive voice and conditionals”

1. The passive tense is used because...

* There is an approach on the person or thing affected by an action.



2. When do we use the passive voice?

* When we don’t know, or it isn’t important, who does the action. The passive is much more frequently used in English than in Spanish.



3. The structure to use the passive voice in the



PRESENT TENSE IS:

Object + To be (present) + Past Participle + (by + subject)* *If needed.



PAST TENSE IS:

Object + was/were + past participle + by + subject of the active sentence



PRESENT PROGRESSIVE IS:

Object + To be (present) + Being + Past Participle + (by + subject)* *If needed.


4. Exercise on Passive Voice - Future I

Rewrite the sentences in passive voice.

1.    Jane will buy a new computer. -A new computer will be bought by Jane.In positive sentences we use: will + be + past participle.
irregular verb: buy - bought - bought


2.    Her boyfriend will install it. -It will be installed by her boyfriend.In positive sentences we use: will + be + past participle.


3.    Millions of people will visit the museum. -The museum will be visited by millions of people.In positive sentences we use: will + be + past participle.


4.    Our boss will sign the contract. -The contract will be signed by our boss.In positive sentences we use: will + be + past participle.




6.    They will not show the new film. -The new film won't be showed by them.In negative sentences we use: will + not + be + past participle.

8.    They will not ask him. -He won't be asked by them.In negative sentences we use: will + not + be + past participle.




10.                    Will the plumber repair the shower? -Will the shower be repaired by the plumber?In questions we use: will + subject + be + past participle.
